---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS -- RobSched'08 -- First International Workshop on Robust Scheduling -- part of ICPADS'08, -- the 14th Int. Conf. on Parallel and Distributed Systems -- December 8-10, 2008, Melbourne, Australia -- -- http://graal.ens-lyon.fr/~abenoit/conf/robsched08.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EXTENDED DEADLINE for paper submission: JULY 11, 2008 Aims and scope Grid computing platforms and components are subject to a great variability. For instance, CPU speeds and link bandwidths are expected to change over time, as the execution proceeds, and this evolution is likely to take the form of abrupt changes followed by epochs of relative stability. Also, processors and network links may fail and then be repaired during execution. Mapping applications onto parallel platforms is a challenging problem, that becomes even more difficult when platforms are heterogeneous, and subject to modifications and failures. Accounting for the dynamic nature of platform parameters is a key component for the design of robust scheduling algorithms. This workshop aims at bringing together researchers working in the areas of scheduling, performance evaluation and fault tolerance to share their experiences and latest research results on these hot topics. We welcome submission of original, unpublished papers, as well as work-in-progress contributions, related to these research areas. Topics of interest Topics of interest for the workshop include but are not limited to: - Scheduling algorithms for heterogeneous platforms - Performance models - Models of platform/application failures - Fault tolerance issues - Resource discovery and management - Task and communication scheduling - Task coordination and workflow - Job scheduling - Stochastic scheduling - Scheduling applications for clusters and grids Paper submission and publication Prospective authors are invited to submit original, unpublished full papers, as well as work-in-progress contributions. Submitted papers must be in English, unpublished and not submitted for publication elsewhere. Papers will go through a rigorous reviewing process. Each paper will be reviewed by at least three referees. The accepted papers will be published in IEEE Computer Society proceedings, as part of the ICPADS 2008 proceedings. We invite you to submit a full paper of 6 pages formatted according to the rules of IEEE Computer Society proceedings 8.5" x 11", two-column format. The submission deadline is July 11, 2008. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper. Paper submission can be done through the following website: http://www.deakin.edu.au/conferences/icpads2008/ws/robsched08/conftool/index.php. Please email Anne.Benoit at ens-lyon.fr if you have any question regarding submission.
